UPDATE: Russia, Turkey agree on mirror lifting of trade restrictions

ISTANBUL, May 22 (PRIME) -- Russia and Turkey have agreed on mirror-like abolishment of trade restrictions, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told reporters on Monday.

Russia will lift restrictions on the use of Turkish labor force, on Turkish firms holding business in Russia in certain areas, and in the sphere of supplies of products, except for tomatoes, and is waiting for symmetrical decisions from Ankara, Medvedev said.

“The decision will go immediately in accordance with a government ruling. Colleagues will prepare changes to certain government acts and I will sign them. In this sense we have agreed with the Turkish side. And certainly these will be mirror-like actions, because there were also restrictions by the Turkish side as well,” he said.

“Relevant normative acts will be adopted in all these areas. We do not need much time for this, but we, naturally, are waiting for symmetrical decisions on certain positions from the Turkish side,” Medvedev said.

Earlier on Monday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich and his Turkish counterpart Mehmet Simsek signed a joint statement on mutual abolishment of trade restrictions.
